Paraxanthine Energy Drink
Level is a paraxanthine energy drink: a caffeine-free dietary supplement built around paraxanthine, the compound your body makes when it breaks down caffeine. Here's what paraxanthine is, how it compares with caffeine, what doses published studies used, and why we built Level around it. Do more. Stay Level.
The science
What is paraxanthine?
Paraxanthine (1,7-dimethylxanthine) is the main compound your liver makes from caffeine. On average, about 80% of the caffeine you drink is converted to paraxanthine (Benowitz et al., 1995). Level uses enfinity®, a branded form of paraxanthine.
A note on "caffeine-free": Level contains no caffeine. Paraxanthine is still a stimulant in the same family as caffeine (methylxanthines), so if you are sensitive to stimulants, talk with your doctor first.

Doses used in published studies
- 200 mg, after a 10 km run. 12 trained runners took 200 mg paraxanthine, 200 mg caffeine, both, or placebo. After the run, the paraxanthine group did better than the caffeine group on some executive-function measures and had faster reaction times than placebo (Yoo et al., 2024, Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition).
- 200 mg and 300 mg, with a meal. In 24 healthy adults, both doses raised self-rated energy and productivity versus placebo, and 200 mg did better than 300 mg on several measures (Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, 2025).
- 50, 100 and 200 mg. A dose-ranging study in 12 adults found the most consistent effects on attention and short-term memory at 100 and 200 mg (Dickerson et al., 2021, conference abstract).
These were small, short studies, and most were funded by the company that makes enfinity. Results in a study don't guarantee the same results for you.
Our take, as the maker
We're a service-disabled veteran-owned small business in South Carolina. We wanted steady energy for long days without caffeine, so we built Level around paraxanthine at the dose studied most: 200 mg.
Planned formula per serving: 200 mg paraxanthine (enfinity®), 315 mg Alpha-GPC (GeniusPure®) and 2.4 mcg Vitamin B12. The formula isn't final yet, and the label on the can is always the source of truth.
